The Bourgueil terroir

An exceptional name

Located on the right bank of the Loire, the Bourgueil appellation is based on a single terroir composed of gravel and clay-limestone soils . This soil gives the wine an elegant structure and a beautiful aromatic complexity. Thanks to this diversity of terroirs, each cuvée reveals a clean personality, between freshness and depth.

The Cabernet Franc, emblematic grape variety

Mainly developed from Cabernet Franc, sometimes associated with Cabernet Sauvignon, Bourgueil wine is distinguished by aromas of ripe red fruit, violet and a slight spicy touch that evolves over time. This emblematic grape variety is fully expressed on the terroir of Bourgueil, offering wines that are both flexible and structured, ideals for a tasting from their youth or after a few years of guard.

Agreements & Service

An ideal wine for meats and cold meats

Thanks to its flexible structure and its fruity aromas, the Bourgueil wine perfectly accompanies the grills, roasted meats and cold cuts . It also goes very well with more elaborate dishes such as a duck breast, a cute net or a mushroom risotto.

A suitable service temperature

To fully appreciate its aromas, we advise to serve the Bourgueil between 14 and 16 ° C. A slight ventilation before tasting allows you to express all your aromatic palette. For the most structured vintages, an early an hour opening will bring a better expression of aromas and a more silky texture.

How long to keep a bourgueil?

Depending on the vintage and the terroir, a Bourgueil wine can be enjoyed young on the fruit or be kept for several years to develop more complex notes . The cuvées from clay-limestone terroirs have longer, offering deeper aromas and a beautiful bottle in the bottle.
